Biography

When I grew up in Springfield, my father was a sheet metal worker and my mother worked at Allis-Chalmers. My dad dabbled in politics for a while and then went to work for the State as many people in the Sprinfield area did. When I was about 12 or 13 his boss decided to run for school board. He was a good guy so I decided to help him. I passed out his literature door to door. I credit his winning with that effort of course!

In my adult life I have helped in many campaigns Democratic, Republican, and non-partisan. Since being fairly recently retired and working part time seeing my youngest son graduate from Lewis University last May, I have decided to make a very personal move to become a candidate for County Board. Public Service has been a major part of my whole life. I was a special education teacher for many years, then becoming a supervisor and administrator overseeing special education services. My services were sought by the Illinois State Board of Education to resolve disputes between parents and school districts over services to their children.

I received my Bachelor's Degree from WIU. I have a Master's Degree from NIU and equivalent work for an additional degree. I also have coursework completed for a PhD from SIU-Carbondale(ABD).

Right after I got married I became involved in the Boulder Hill Civic Association as a representative and vice-president.

In our 17 years of living in Plainfield I was a parishioner at St. Mary Immaculate Church and was a charter and current active member at St. Francis Xavier Church. We regularly support Creekside Cares and also make and serve dinners for the Daybreak Center Homeless Shelter. I have been a board member of the Prairie Trail Homeowners' Asssociation for the past 3 years and a small business owner for the past 7 years.

Since making the decision to seek to become a County Board member my part time employment has virtually ceased. This has been deliberate to attempt to provide me the time and opportunity to become as familiar as possible with the functioning of the Will County Board. It is my goal to make myself as ready as possible to begin this role in an effective manner once the election is over.

Political Beliefs

Political Philosophy

I believe in limited government that does things that benefit the people. Decisions that are made by political leaders should be calculated to provide benefit to the vast majority of their constituents. Political leaders should be open minded and engage change so it benefits the community. These are factors assuring the best qualities of Liberty are maintained.

County Board matters. It's where we live. And that's what really matters.

I am encouraging my constituents to become part of an advisory panel on issues facing the County Board. Panel members would be informed of issues the County is addressing and will be asked to provide opinions and input on possible resolutions to the issues. Constituents may sign up for this panel on my web site, billforcb13.org

Expect better from your County Board. The Board should be creative and open minded instead of restrictive and closed minded. Responsive responsible government should be your expectation. When elected I will be accountable for my votes on issues and anyone who wants will know exactly what's going on with the Board and my role in the process.
