My Top 3 Priorities

Coles County Assistant State's Attorney Bryant Hitchings would like to formally announce his candidacy for the Office of Douglas County State's Attorney.

Mr. Hitchings has been a lifelong resident of Central Illinois and grew up on a family farm in Waggoner, IL. He has resided in Rural Tuscola since 2010. Bryant married Samantha (Hansen) Hitchings of Tolono, Illinois in November 2011 and they welcomed home their first child Walter in July of 2015. Bryant's hobbies include hunting, snowmobiling, and cooking barbeque. He attended Undergraduate School at the University of Illinois Springfield and graduated with a B.A. in Legal studies in 2006. He graduated from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2009 with a Juris Doctor.

Mr. Hitchings has been an Assistant State's Attorney in Coles County since 2010 and has prosecuted Felony, Misdemeanor, and Traffic Offenses. Since 2012, he has handled a high volume felony caseload focusing on Drug Prosecution. He files an average of 200 cases per year and handles all aspects of litigation including motion practice, jury trials, and sentencing hearings. He has obtained jury trial convictions in Methamphetamine Manufacturing, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Materials, and Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.


Mr. Hitchings can offer the people of Douglas County aggressive prosecution with a common sense approach to sentencing. He looks forward to having the opportunity to keep his wife Samantha, Infant son Walter, and all citizens of Douglas County safe. He is running as a Democrat candidate and would like to ask for your vote in March and November 2016. He encourages you to Vote Justice Vote Hitchings!
