Will County Board

Why I want to serve on the Will County Board

Eastern Will County is projected to have significant

economic growth over the next decade. I have lived and raised my family in Eastern Will County for the past twenty-five years. I can bring leadership, experience, accountability and dedication when elected as a member of the Will County Board of Commissioner. I have expertise in negotiating multimillion dollar infrastructure projects. I would like to continue my work in economic development throughout Will County. I would fight for equal distribution of funds throughout the county districts. I would be honored to represent the concerns of the residents and businesses in Will County’s First District

Economic Development

Progress in an economy,or the qualitative measure of this, Economic development usually refers to the adoption of new technologies, transition from agriculture-based to industry-based economy, and general improvement in living standards.

) Economic Development. Of vital importance to the First District and the county

as a whole is creating greater access to retail goods/services, jobs and the tax revenues that flow from new business development. New business and a more competitive Will County translates into an increase in the county’s share of sales tax revenue (.75 percent) through growth and its commercial property tax base to support necessary infrastructure improvements and economic development incentives to competitively attract these opportunities: t ax increment financing, tax abatement programs, enterprise zones, employer training investment programs, edge tax credit programs, job creation tax credits, and the employer training investment program all serve this purpose and require funding mechanisms to succeed. We are an economically diverse county with more affluent suburbs in the north and northwest areas with higher population densities in contrast to quasi–rural areas to the south and southeast (my district) in need of access to basic retail goods and services. Our proximity to Chicago and expressway infrastructure make us well suited to focus on growth in the manufacturing sector and retail countywide. I believe in aggressive economic development and in my district a focus on attracting manufacturing and retail e.g., industrial parks, malls, badly needed grocery stores in “food desert” areas, restaurants etc. all being viable off arteries connecting I–57 and I–394
