For 3 generations the Saline family has been farming just outside of Rio.  Wayne Saline's grandfather Carl and his sons, Jack and Sterling started Saline Farms Inc. in the 1950'S.  As the family farm expanded over the next quarter century, they added raising hogs and cattle to their grain farm.  In the 1970's, the family also started their own trucking company.  Today, Saline Farms has 2,300 acres where Wayne oversees day to day operations of the farm.  In 1990, Wayne and his wife Barbara joined with others in the family to start APEX Pork. It is a farrow to finish facility in Knox County. As a co-owner of a pork production facility, Wayne was on the Pork Producers board for six years.

Wayne and Barb were both born and raised in the 74th district. When it was time for them to have a family, they chose to remain here.  They have been married for 26 years.

Both Wayne and Barb have served as volunteer firefighters with the Rio Volunteer Fire Department.  Wayne served as the Fire Chief for twelve years.  Today, their son Brett (age 22) continues this family tradition of service.  Brett has been a volunteer firefighter since he was 18 for the Rio Volunteer Fire Department and he is an EMT for Tri County Ambulance.  He is currently on the list for the Galesburg Fire Dept.  Currently, Brett is employed by Crop Production Services of Oneida as an operator.

Their daughter Brooke (age 25) graduated with a double major in Law, Politics, & Society and History from Drake University in Des Moines, IA.  In May of 2015, she received her Juris Doctor from Southern Illinois University.  She passed the bar exam and was inducted into the Illinois Bar on November 5th.  She is engaged to be married on July 1, 2017 to Bart Wolek who was also inducted to the Illinois bar on November 5th.

Service is a trait that marks Wayne’s entry into politics.  When asked to run for Knox County Board, he chose to answer the call.  Wayne served diligently for eleven years and was Chairman of the Finance Committee for nine of those years.  During his time as Finance Chairman, Knox County stopped borrowing money and had balanced budgets.  Wayne was also Chief Negotiator for the County and was able to negotiate contracts that kept jobs while being fiscally responsible.

During his time with the Knox County Board, Wayne was asked to be Treasurer of the Knox County Republican Central Committee.  Upon election, he had to work with the State Board of Elections to correct financial errors in the Knox County GOP accounts.  Later, he was elected as Chairman of the Knox County Republican Party.  In the last two years, the party has been more active than it had been during the last five years.

Wayne is running for representative because he understands the issues facing the 74th District.  He is ready, willing, and experienced in the areas affecting the health of Illinois.  We can have a state we are proud of once again.

Filosofía política

Wayne is a fiscal conservative who believes that government should be accountable for its finances.  Taxes should be low to encourage business growth and to insure taxpayers are not burdened.  Springfield is suppose to operate a balanced budget but for years that has been a sad cruel joke.  Wayne believes the first thing we must do to deal with the issues in the State of Illinois is that government must stop hindering the taxpayers through regulation and deficit spending.

A key to any plan has to be educational reform.  We have to have an educational system that prepares all students for either college or for the workforce.
