Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • One of my top priorities when I arrive in Springfield is taking on the fiscal problems that this state faces. To promote a healthy fiscal environment, we need to bring a spirit of bipartisanship and compromise to Springfield.
  • Schools in my district are underfunded compared to the state average, resulting in higher property taxes. We need to equalize school funding and reconfigure the equation used for school funding, which leaves our area schools out in the cold.
  • The amount of money that PACs can give to candidates here in Illinois is outrageous compared to other states. We need to reform our campaign finance system, and pass a constitutional amendment setting new limits on contributions.

I am currently a nurse at Morris Hospital, and have been a nurse throughout the region for the past 28 years. As a nurse, I have cared for many people during hard times. I have also been able to get to know the people of my community through my work, and as a former member of the Morris City Council, and listen to their concerns regarding politics in Illinois. With this unique connection to my community, I feel that I can bring about the real change that people in my district want in Springfield, and not simply use political party talking points.

Filosofía política

Currently, Springfield lacks the bipartisanship spirit needed to get things done. Our latest budget impasse made Illinois a national embarrassment. The problem with those who serve in the General Assembly on both sides of the aisle is that they are talking past each other and not to each other. Additionally, we are seeing an era of polarization in Springfield that I have not seen in my lifetime. Even when we have had divided government in the past, we have been able to simply pass a budget. It is time that we harbor a spirit of bipartisanship and compromise in Springfield. My political philosophy is that we need to create a bipartisan atmosphere which supports compromise.
